The Psyco Squad Rules For Left4Dead Matches. By Master Toddzilla
The matches I am speaking about are Versus matches. Each rule is up for debate by the team captains unless in caps. Cap rules must be followed with no exception. Any violations will be dealt with.
Conduct:
EACH TEAM SHALL FOLLOW THE PSYCO SQUAD'S RULES OF ENGAGEMENT. GOOD SPORTSMONSHIP IS A MUST!! ANY VIOLATION OF THIS WILL RESULTS IN BANNING FROM MATCHES!! (OF COURSE SOME RULES ARE UP FOR DEBATE BY TEAM CAPTAINS, BUT IF YOU FEEL THERE ARE VIOLATIONS TELL ME AND PROVE IT.)
Players:
First off a versus match is 4 on 4. Both teams must have 4 members, and each member must be a member of steam in good standings. Each Team captain needs to make sure of this. and send a player list to the other captain but the time of the meet. It is up to each captain to accept the list, which means they accept the players. BUT THERE WILL NEVER BE A TOURNAMENT WITHOUT 4 PLAYERS FOR EACH TEAM!!! IF ONE TEAM DOESN'T HAVE 4 PLAYERS, THE OTHER TEAM CAPTAIN CAN EITHER RESCHUDLE THE MATCH OR WINS BY DEFAULT, THERE CHOICE.
Maps:
Any official Valve map can be used. The map must be agreed upon by team captains before the beginning of the match. EACH MATCH MUST PLAY ALL LEVELS WITH BOTH SIDES PLAYING SURVIVORS AND INFECTED.
Wining:
This is simple. The team with the highest score wins the match. If there is a draw, then the team captains can decide to play the match again, or to set another date and time for the match. But until there is a defiant winner no team can claim victory.
Game Version:
The latest version of Left4Dead provided by Valve must be used. Valve will offer the latest version using Steam and it is up to the individual player to make sure they have the most recent patch downloaded and installed prior to match time. This includes both client side and server side packages.
Sprays:
During a match no sprays can be used by either team.
Use Of Voice:
The use of chatting is allowed in matches. Team's may use any and all systems for this. Such as in game system, Team-speak, Roger Wilco and Skype just to name a few.
In Game Taunting:
Personally I think that in game smack talk shouldn't be allowed, but I leave this up to the team captains to decide. BUT THERE WILL BE NO BELITTLING IN GAME. NO ONE SHOULD FEEL THEY ARE A BAD PLAYER BECAUSE THE OTHER TEAM SAYS THEY ARE. THIS RULE IS NEVER TO BE BROKEN!!!!!
Swearing:
THIS RULE IS NEVER TO BE CHANGED!!! SWEARING BETWEEN TEAM MEMEBERS IS ALLOWED, BUT NOT FROM TEAM TO TEAM!!! EVERYONE NEEDS TO FOLLOW THIS RULE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW IT WILL BE DEALT WITH!!!!
Cheats:
Cheats are not allowed in official Psyco Squad matches. The definition of cheats to me is anything that is typed in the console to alter the game. Of course if the team captains want to allow this they can.
Exploits(Or What Some Call Cheating):
Anything you can do with the latest version of the game is allowed, from Smokers being in rooftops doing a death pull, to infected going into areas the survivors can't reach. As far as I am concerned, the programmers at Valve know they are there and since they never got rid of it, it must be legal. There are exceptions.
1)No infected is allowed in a safe room before the survivors have entered.
2)There must always be a path the survivors can take to get to the safe room. Infected can block must paths, but must leave one open.
3)All survivors must trigger all events. These are important to game play and must be done.
Filing a Dispute
Disputes for Cheating Format
If you feel your opponent was cheating during your match, you must do the
following to file a valid cheating dispute.
Take a reasonable amount of time to discuss the issue with your own teammates.
Take time to cool off and rationally talk about the issue.
1)You need to have reasonable evidence to file charges. You and another member of the team must corroborate the allegation.
2}If you feel you have reasonable grounds, initiate a dispute. List your concerns
over specific instances during your match and include these in your dispute.
Example: At x:xx minutes in the X round, player XXXXX
did this. At x:xx in the X round, same player XXXXX did this. etc etc.
3)Notify your opponent as soon as you dispute so they can get their evidence ready for review. Keep in mind that a disputed team becomes defensive.
If your team has a dispute filed against you, cooperation is your best ally in a
dispute.
4)YOU ALSO NEED A DEMO OF THE GAME SO I MAY VIEW IT. I SUGGEST BOTH TEAMS RECORD A DEMO FOR ME TO VIEW. THIS IS A MUST AND MAY NEVER BE CHANGED!
-Examples of Cheating Dispute Format:
At approx 7:35 in the first half, |Team|Player3 was able to kill 5 of my team
members in a single clip without reloading once in less then 20sec after we all
spawned. We suspect symptoms of an Aimbot.
{Clan}Player5 was able to come around corners prefiring the weapon on several
occasions as if we could be seen through the walls. This happened during the
first half at 10:20, 6:50, and 3:23. Then it happened again during the second
half at 18:43, 12:08, 10:22, and 5:16.
During the first half at approx 5:15 left on the clock, a member of the other
team was in the capture radius completely submerged. Please consult our
screenshot as evidence of this.
At approx 1:01 in the third round during the first half, -=Clan=-Member1 had
their tank barrel pointing through a wall and was firing on us, we could not
kill his tank because he was protected by the wall.
Somewhere around 12:34 on the second round [clan]member7 began to use "all-talk"
to type racist insults at our team, please consult our server logs and included
screenshots for the evidence.
General Procedures
All disputes will be handled by the ladder admin(s)such as myself. Each and every dispute inevitably involves different aspects and will be dealt with individually. Disputes must be reported to your ladder admin within 1 hour of match end. You do this by either leaving an announcement on The Psyco Squad or by leaving a comment on my profile. Teams must identify 'when and where' the violation occurred.
Making a Habit of Disputing
Our concern is to have a fun and clean place to play. Although the dispute process is necessary in helping keep a clean match, teams who make it a habit to dispute often with frivolous reasons will subject themselves to possible immediate dismissal of future claims.
I have zero tolerance for cheating and cheating accusations without an effort to submit any evidence.
More Exploits
Exploits deemed illegal in this tournament include, but are not limited to...
Bypassing Crescendo’s
Bypassing crescendos is illegal. For example, on No Mercy 3. Destroying the door, rather then using the scissor lift is illegal.
Weapon Switch Melee
Constantly switching between weapons to increase the frequency of your melee attack is illegal.
3rd Person View
Any over the shoulder, or third person view is illegal. All players must play using first person view.
Gatling Gun
Any kind of "bouncing", "jumping" or "teleporting" using the Gatling Gun is illegal.
Blocking the Survivors Routes
It is ok to block the route of the survivors to the safe room with cars and logs etc, as long as there is at least 1 route which remains unimpeded so that it is physically possible for the survivors to make it to the safe room. If all routes are blocked then that is deemed illegal.
No Mercy Final under ramp
It is illegal to camp, or even go, under the ramp on No Mercy Final. It is also illegal to stand on the back ledge of the building if this is possible in the Versus version of the map.
Taking Advantage of Catch-up
It is illegal to abuse the Catch-up feature as the infected. The most obvious example of this is when you are a Boomer and you vomit on the survivors, and then quickly run back far enough so that you can use the Catch-up feature, and then spawn near them with your vomit meter full in half of the time it normally takes. It also goes for any infected doing this to regain full health.
Door Glitching
It is illegal to glitch through a closed door.
Wall clipping
At no time may any player, survivor or infected, clip through a wall to cause damage to another player. This INCLUDES tanks bashing through walls. Survivors MAY shoot through walls as this was explicitly included in the game by the developers.
Game Scoring Issues
The passing of pills from one survivor to another with the obvious intent to take advantage of the scoring system is illegal. Staff will review this on a case by case basis when needed.
If anyone on your team violates one of the above rules, your team will forfeit the map on which it occurred.
If you team violates three or more of the above rules your team forfeits the match. To clarify, one rule broken 3 times counts as 3 violations and will result in the loss of the match.
CVARS
The use of CVARs that give any player an unfair advantage over another player is not allowed during match play. An example of allowable CVARs would be an FPS tweak such as removing dead bodies. An example of an illegal CVAR would be turning off an environmental part of the game such as fog or rain which would clearly give the player an advantage over another. Anything that changes the effect of sounds to give players an advantage is also prohibited. Texture tweaks that in turn change the behavior of hit boxes are not acceptable. Basically common sense is required as to what would be deemed legal or illegal. The decision lies with me and the use of an illegal CVAR will be considered a game exploit. If you are unsure of a CVAR, please contact me to get an official ruling.
Anyone caught using or attempting to use illegal cvars will be suspended from match play for up to 30 days. Repeated use will lead to a longer suspension and/or ban.
Punishment:
Of course each case is different, but in general punishment will be swift. It includes banning players for so long from matches to the teams forfeit of the match. I will not tolerate these rules being broken!!!!
